"Stupid White Dawg is chasin' away the customers."
Lily is right. Briar is chasing away the customers. "Move along! "Not for sale!" "Right?" Unlike the other farm, the Cow House is not at the end of a dead-end street, thus the "public" has access to Briar's sheep. Since the lambs have gotten big, there is a lot more interest in them. I often see pickup trucks pausing near the front to examine the sheep now. Unfortunately Briar missed the memo that lambs are for sale. "Go away! Not for sale!"
Yesterday she sat in the rain by the front gate after a blue truck perused her sheep for quite a while. I was just getting ready to walk out there when he slowly drove away. Briar spent the next half hour sitting in the rain, daring him to come back. This is Bronco Billy. At least that's what I'm calling him at the moment. He is a Boer/Spanish cross and is our ticket to milk from the dairy goats this season. This is a popular cross around here and since I cannot keep the babies, I need to raise something that is popular for re-sale value. I fear this will not sit well with Briar, since the trucks that linger near the front fence are not looking for pets. "Goats are not for sale either! And don't even CONSIDER coming back when the sun goes down!"

Maybe they are rutlers??

Briar, you are so lovable! What a brave protector you are -- keep those stranger away from your flock :-)
Look at that green (very green) grass! Isn't that a pretty sight? I don't think I've seen your grass that green before. Might be a good time to take photos of the dogs, goats and sheep on a bright green background - hehehe.

Briar will look like the smart one when your lambs and kids start disappearing to two-legged bandits. I am so glad we are off the road and over a ridge.

Love your stories. My sister and I have fun when we check in with each other (several states away) and ask, did you read . . .?
Did you see the story on CBS this morning about the Texas lady who raises goats and makes award winning cheese? Sounds like she loves hers as much as Briar loves her flock.

Don't make fun of my wonderful thoughtful guard dog Briar. I would offer to take care of her if I didn't live 3000 miles away in Maine. She is so with it.

Oh yes! If not for Briar, I have no doubt that someone would try to walk past that police dog sign to nab a lamb. (But then they might encounter Ranger The Blue Heeler, and that would NOT be a good thing.

I missed the story on the lady who makes award winning cheese! I need to google her! I'm so glad you and your sister are enjoying our silly little farm world! It's so nice to know that folks enjoy the stories. It REALLY helps when things go wrong around here. Then I tell myself, "Oh well, I'll blog about that!" At least someone can get a laugh out of it!

oh, I do enjoy your stories and pictures, very much from up here north of Boston! I wouldn't last a day in your farm job OR your forensics job, but I am fascinated by both 'jobs' that you do. Briar is doing her job just the way she knows it to be - never mind what that bossy Border Collie thinks!

Yes, she is! She has become quite a responsible pup! (and Lily is too, just in a different way!)
