Farm Fresh Blog

Wednesday, November 02 2011

You, dear readers, have given me so much that it's time for me to give back.

Who wants soap?!!

Not only am "I" having bunches of fun soapmaking, but my friends are enjoying my new farming adventure too.  Soap is flying out of here so fast that I need to take a few days off of my "real" job to make some more!  People like it. And that's why I want to give you some.

I'll be giving away two baskets of soap. All you have to do is hit "post a comment" (at the bottom of the page) and tell me 1) what is your favorite farm blog 2) what is your favorite CSI blog, and 3) who's your favorite farm character.  That's it. Just pick your favorites, hit "post a comment", and give me some feedback.  I'll have Clover the Milk Goat select 2 lucky readers and we'll ship you some soap!

Clover will select her winners Friday, Nov. 4 at noon.

Well... the blogs are a given! (I'm writin' on it..Them...It...Them.. It, but regarding them? ;-) ).. but the animal.. .. .. Can we realy only pick 1??? Because, well, border collie is the best (but wait, there are two of them!) but... how can a person NOT pick Briar??? (Except, perhaps, the garbage men...lol!) So it's kind of a tie. :-p

Oh, HAS to be the *hideous boots* one......LOL.... I enjoy them all, some I laugh, some I cry, some I identify with. But the boot story is probably my favorite.

Favorite farm blog post #1: Country Dogs Go to Town (with Lily saying, "Clothes? Dogs wear clothes?" Favorite farm blog post #2: Too Little (with Trace and Lily up on the round bales, surveying her kingdom). Favorite CSI blog post: the one about the alarm that kept going off for hours, until someone coming in pushed the off button. Favorite farm character has to be Lily, who looks so much like our Annie. Strike that, tell Clover she's my favorite now.

My favorite farm blog was "I think I'll call him George," about Briar "loving" the chicken. My favorite dog is Briar. I liked the CSI blog about the evidence drying room -- very informative.

Farm Blog - have to stick with recent since I have been reading you since before you were a Blog (that sounds strange) It would have to be Writing Checks, cause Bless My Heart, I have finally stopped writing those checks. It has only taken 45 years. CSI Blog - Birthday Suit - I sob every time I read it; for him and for his mother. Favorite Farm Animal - Gotta be Briar since I have my very own Big White Poofy Dog guarding chickens and goats. But I loved that Huckleberry boy so much...wanted him to come liven up my spinster girls, Blueberry & Valentine!

I liked "objectivity" about which animals you would take with you... I don't have a favorite CSI one.. they are all really interesting. I have to say Briar because I own two Great Pyrs who guard my turkeys, goats, mini donkeys, geese, chickens, pigs ( a little Noah's Ark here)

Farm Blog, Blessings in the rain. CSI Blog slither. Farm character toss up between Montoya and the goats. These are great, makes me happy I'm not the only one with a zoo and quirky animals

My favorite Farm Blog was "Lavender Fields".When I read the gift Alice sent you, I needed soap to wash the mascara off my face...(or I would have if I wore mascara) The favorite CSI blog is "Alarms". I didn't see it coming, but I gotta tell ya that I needed soap for that one 'cause " I laughed so hard my tears ran down my leg." I would have to pick Lily as my fav. Let's face it she is the only one that I have seen that knows how to handle a gun (see "Rage On The Range"....not to mention the fact that I'm sure that somehow she has a paw in the making of this wonderful soap.

This is harder than I thought it would be! 1) Favorite Farm Blog - "Reindeer Games" when Ice met Stone last year - in one blog you had me going from laughing to tearing up and it was such a sweet story. 2) Favorite CSI blog - "CSI Disney" where the teachers didn't want you to tell kids the reality of your job and wanted it G-rated! 3) Favorite Farm Animal - Ice. Love it that you call her a black wolf and I think she is just gorgeous. My Natasha is black and tan, but I am biased and think she is as pretty as Ice!

Just one you say? Hummm. The CSI "Court" - short and to the point. But gosh it made me cry. "Moral Dilemmas" is another. For the Farm Blog - Got to go with when Briar comforts Ronie. Got to love a dog doing its work with heart and soul. Favorite farm animal: Does "other" fit in this? I love him in "Southern Men". :) If he objects I have to go with Briar like so many others. Thank you for blogging!

I love all your stories. I am from Austin and I had to move last year and I miss Texas soooo much. I happened upon your website at a time when I was very, very homesick. You have made the transition a little easier by making me laugh and for that I will be forever grateful. I have a black and white Border Collie that tolerates us humans. I Love the stories about the dogs and the hideously beautiful boots(no one will ever understand unless they are from Texas!!!). The CSI story about the drying room and the ones about maggots. I love it all. Thank you for everything!! You make this homesick girl life a little better.

It's hard to decide. Favorite farm blog, A Chasm Conquered with those great pictures of Ruffy in flight. CSI-Disney was my favorite CSI blog. Favorite character is Lilly, just love that dog.

Farming 101 - I laughed til I peed myself Waste - I have seen the same thing as a Police Officer prior to retirement. Ahhh, retirement. Top Hand Lily - Just like my Emma June. What more can I say?

1. "I will name him George" 2. "It can always get worse" 3. My favorite farm character is you because without your help I would never have learned about any of the others and because I love your sense of humor.
Posted by CarolG on 11/03/2011 - 07:43 PM
hmm - my overall favorite - would be Farming 101, and as for CSI blogs - I can not remember what the title was, but had something to do with snakes and culverts. Characters? Briar definitely, but, I'm in love with Clover Goat - and her kid was so beautiful!

I've had a great time rereading past entries looking for favorite ones - my favorite CSI post is 'sleeping beauty'. my favorite farm post - "old dogs old ladies' from March 2011. my favorite character - all of 'em are great characters, the way you write and picture them - whoever is the focus of the entry is probably my favorite character. the border collies got me started, but now i have much more appreciation of cows, horses, sheep, goats, chickens, roosters, cats, and miniature ponies. and of YOU and the other half, too! thanks for giving me a fun focus for the evening.

I can't be a winner of the soap [customs could be a prob.] But this set of blogs are like a drug. If it's not new daily then I have withdrawl. Love the photos and the print that has a life of it's own. Couple of spluttered keyboards from having morning tea at wrong time. Briar is my favourite particularly the photos when she is in the water hole. First met her in the ether when she was a mere pup.

(1) My fav farm blog? Tops are The Paper Boy, Free Play, Briar was Bad, Top Hand, Birth of a Cow Dog, whimsical ones like The Milk Mooch, Blue Heelers, Stupid is as Stupid Does, Huckleberry, The Inner Child, but the one I will never forget is "Blood Will Tell". (2) My fav CSI? Definitely Slither - who knew a crime scene could be so funny? Really enjoy the educational ones about rigor mortis, post mortem lividity, guns, cadaver dogs, etc. (3) My fav farm character? So hard to choose - I love them all. The goats and puppy Dillon are so cute; the BCs are so smart. Besides yourself because you are such an entertaining writer, I think it will have to be Briar because of her fantastic character that even a fearful Roanie can go to for love.

Love your blog. I can't participate in your contest, though. If I were to win I wouldn't be able to deal with your soap. It looks too much like FUDGE and I would probably scoff it all down in a frenzy.

Muleskinner Carol --- LOL, I was thinking the same thing; especially that tasty looking chocolate piece in the center of the basket!

I'm torn. I loved Redmon, but The Dime was a great read also. It was so easy to picture. CSI; The Birthday Suit. Favorite Farm Character..Besides you? I adore your little Huckleberry. Though I don't think he made the cut when you moved. He was a stunning little goat. But Briar has a ton of character so I think I have to vote for her.
