Clover is my milk goat.

Her temperament is as sweet as her milk. Because of that, when her breeder culled Clover's twin because she had a seriously uneven udder, I told her that rather than send Crimson to the butcher, I'd be delighted to take her and try to correct the problem.

Seriously uneven udder. Oh yeah.

And she's scared of dogs . . .

. . . and we have 7 dogs.

"Dddid I hear a dog?"

"Ssseriously! I hear a dog!"

But despite her uneven udder, and her fear of dogs, Crimson gives LOTS of milk! (which the dogs drink. What sick irony.) On another note, today I took my first soapmaking class. I LOVE goat milk soap, and frankly, why should I buy goat milk soap when I have goat milk rapidly filling my refrigerator?

I thoroughly enjoyed my class. We made two batches of goat milk soap!

This is not one of them!

The soap we made is curing. These are soap samples my teacher sent home with me! Look at the one up front. It's loofa soap! I LOVE IT! You cram a wet loofa sponge into a pvc tube mold, and pour the soap into the loofa. The loofa absorbs the soap. When you cut the bars, you have a wonderful exfoliating scrubber inside your bar of soap. How cool it THAT?!! I can't wait to try this!

now, can you wash the dogs with the exfoliating soap? that would complete the circle, wouldn't it? crimson does look like a sweetie and maybe she can learn in time that the dogs are really big barking bothers that rely on HER for milk!

So, when Crimson doesn't work out, remember, I love goats, and my dogs do, too. Seriously. I already have your 4 lambs..... Jeez, I hope you didn't move further away from me....

Hahahhaa! Yep! I wish we were closer! My husband does too! That way when we're out of town we'd have a goat-sitter!

I'm not sure if the dogs need exfoliating, but my old bloodhound sure did!

Oh wouldn't that be great? We have such a hard time leaving. I can imagine how much more difficult it is for you. Even with family right close by, it seems like so much to leave someone to do. I don't want to alienate my family by having them watch my critters. I just goat sat for Gretta for 20 days. Loved it, and was just exhausted, too. Milking EVERY MORNING? Really? EVERY morning? Wow. The puppy grew to enjoy the whole process, and Emma can herd anything.

I'm milking TWICE a day. The morning milking is easier for me than the nightly milking. Milking a goat at midnight while swatting mosquitoes is not my favorite part of farming.

Beautiful soaps! That is a great idea! Goat soap is the next thing I want to try making. Hope yours turn out after they've cured!

Hey Just wanted to say Thank You Again for the Goat Milk! My first baking project with it was a complete success! I made a homemade Veggie Pot Pie from Scratch and it turned out beautifully and no one could tell there was goat milk in there! :) I plan to use it next for a couple of dessert dishes I will let you know how it turns out! :) and maybe I can get you to ask the goats if I can have some more please. :) I will make you a dish in exchange for it if you tell me what you would like to have.
