I was sweeping the floor yesterday when I spotted this:

EEEEKKKKK!!!!! When you're moving quickly and the room is dark, this looks like a giant spider! (shudder)

Then I remembered this:

Rugback sheep

When I sheared the rugbacks, I tossed the rugs on the floor in my study. Every time Border Collie gets into my office, she picks a little bit of the rug off and carries it around like a toy.

Satisfied that this monstrous "spider" was a actually a stray piece of stringy wool, I reached down to pick it up. But something, . . . Something . . . made me pause. Thomas Magnum on Magnum P.I. used to call it his "little voice." Well just as I was about to snatch up that piece of wool, my little voice of caution screamed, "Wait! Turn on the light first!"

So I did.

Oh . . . My. . . Gosh . . .

That does NOT look like a piece of stringy wool! It looks like a giant crunchy spider!

It IS! IT IS!!!! It is a giant spider!!!! And a little one too! and some dog hair . . . . . (Please ignore the dog hair.) I almost picked this up with my bare fingers!!!! The very thought of it made me shudder and do the "spider shuffle." This is a move whereby the shudder starts at the tip of your fingers and like a giant wave it moves up your arm to your shoulder where you then begin flicking your hands and dancing in place saying "Eeeewwwwww!

The moral of this story is . . . turn on the lights when you sweep!

LOL...Each morning when Belle comes back in the house, she gets her knotted sock and drops it at Hubby's feet for a quick tug-of-war game. He never looks, just reaches down and picks it up to shake at her. One morning, it wasn't the sock. It was a very fresh dead squirrel. That was the morning I discovered he really CAN scream like a little girl....LOL Ya, that spider would probably make me scream like a little girl.....

Really? You watch maggots crawl in and out of folks, and spiders give you the willies? DId you note that the big, dead spider has a little, dead spider as a friend? If you happen to find yourself at my blog, please note that I give fair warning when I'm going to post pictures/stories of spiders.

Ewwwwww you just gave ME the spider shuffle..and shiver, gag, willies. I HATE crunchy spiders! Any kind of spider actually....YUCK!

Awww man! CeeCee that's colddddddd! (hehehe) Actually, I'm not a freakazoid about spiders if I'm 'prepared' to see them. I don't like to TOUCH spiders. (I don't like to touch maggots either!) Hey, send me a link to your blog! Diane, tell your husband that I would have freaked if I'd tossed a dead squirrel thinking it was a dog toy. WE have BIG bu@#$!rs here called hunstsmen. Related to bird spiders I think. They are harmless but make a good show. I usually catch them in a big jar and put a cardboard lid over the catch. They are then recycled to the verandah. I have had them in the car. INTERESTING. Also had one run up my skirt years ago. It was also very INTERESTING.
